ATTENTION: Anyone Suffering From a Disease or Caring For Someone Who Is Not Healthy!
When Something's Wrong, You Need Health Information You Can Understand NOW
And that's why I'm here... to provide health information and disease information that is easily understandable, that you can put to use immediately in caring for yourself or your loved one.
When you're sick—or if you're worried about someone you care for—the last thing you want is to stumble along in the dark, not knowing what to do or expect. No! You want to know what's wrong and what you can do to make it better.
In other words, you want to learn all you can about the disease or health condition, so you can help.
It's as simple as that. And I'm here to help you. My name is Kathi MacNaughton, and I am both a registered nurse AND a consumer health writer. For years, I've been making my living taking health information and writing health education materials that anyone can understand, no matter how little or how much schooling they've had... or how emotionally distraught they may be.
You see, when someone you love is sick (even if that's you!), it doesn't matter how much education you've got. The fact is, you're probably too upset to easily comprehend even moderately complex medical information.
The simpler the information, the better. The more you understand, the better position you'll be in to do the right things. And that's what Plain Talk Health Guides is all about. We talk to you at your level, so that you know where you are and where you need to go. Does that mean we talk down to you or treat you like a child?
No! Definitely not.
But we DO make sure we use terms that anyone can understand. You don't have to be a medical professional to understand the health information you'll find here. Our mission is to help you, and if we miss that mark in any way, we want to hear about it.
